Like two molecules unknowingly affecting one another in space and briefly crossing paths, conceptual hip-hop dancers collide and share fleeting moments of intimate synchronicity on the streets of Montreal. Sucked into a choreographic time warp, viewers slowly realize things are not as they seem.
Directed by filmmaker Marites Carino, Vanishing Points is a visual exploration of the power of momentary connection within an otherwise disconnected world. Set along the edges of a soon-to-be demolished triangular heritage building, two individuals inhabit separate spaces, dancing alone, yet unknowingly influencing one another.
Vanishing Points is a site-specific dance-for-screen short choreographed by conceptual hip-hop dance duo Tentacle Tribe (Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Elon Höglund) who transpose break dancing concepts, usually explored in solo work, onto two bodies, which creates an unusual blend of acrobatic partnering. Set to an
original score by composer Andrés Vial, the film subliminally perplexes viewers, and makes them think twice…
